NoMa (“North of Massachusetts Avenue”), or the NoMa Corridor, generally refers to the area north of Union Station, east of North Capital, just past the railroad tracks to the west, and spilling into the southern portion of Eckington. Currently dotted with empty lots, existing office buildings and new office construction, the area will be introducing residential, retail and hospitality developments—radically transforming the character of this previously shadowed enclave as well as the bordering residential neighborhoods.

The NoMa Business Improvement District (BID) was approved by the D.C. Council in March and endorsed by the Mayor’s office in May. Budgeted items include uniformed NoMa guides and cleaning team (similar to the “Golden Triangle” team south of Dupont Circle), marketing and streetscape and infrastructure improvements.
